Letters to the Editor

Go Greens!

My name is Raimondas Marciulevicius, and I am an international student of St. Petersburg College, Florida. I like your newspaper, Green Pages, and I support your movement. It is a privilege to receive and to read Green Pages every [quarter].

The people are left out

The White House has consulted with members of both parties in Congress about a replacement for retiring Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. But most Americans live lives outside the noisy desperation of bilateral partisanship.

We the people need a Supreme Court nominee who, like most of us, isn't a Republican or a Democrat-perhaps a well-known attorney, smart, skilled, experienced, independent, unafraid of telling truth to power. Ralph Nader.

Or David Cobb, Nader's successor as Green presidential candidate. Cobb too criss-crossed the country on little money to stand up for all-American Green values like grassroots democracy, civil liberties, and social justice for all.

Many men and women, in the Green Party, in other parties or in no party, are living proof that Democrats and Republicans have no monopoly on qualified people. So when you hear about political appointments to public offices, think about who's left out when only insiders in the two big-money major parties are considered or consulted.
